이번 앨범은 지난 2015년 9월 발매한 스페셜 앨범 ‘MAGIC’(매직) 이후 약 24개월 만의 단체 앨범으로, 슈퍼주니어 멤버들의 적극적인 참여와 각별한 애정이 담겨 더욱 남다른 의미를 지닌다. ‘음악을 재생하다’와 ‘신나게 놀다’라는 이중적인 의미가 결합된 ‘PLAY’는 언제든 쉽게 재생할 수 있고 듣기 편한 대중적인 트랙과, 슈퍼주니어 특유의 유쾌함이 돋보이는 트랙들이 조화롭게 실려 한층 넓어진 슈퍼주니어의 음악적 스펙트럼을 확인할 수 있다.
