IU, who showed near-perfect song interpretation and singing skills with her debut song 'Mia' at the young age of 15, transformed into a lively image 180 degrees different from her previous work with the title song 'Boo' of her regular album, expressing the youthful sensitivity of a teenager. She appealed, and through the follow-up song 'You Know', she showed off her image as a bright and cute girl diva without regret, showing her expressive power to digest any genre.

The second mini-album [IU,,,IM], which will captivate our eyes and ears once again, contains a total of 7 songs, and the producer and lyricist Choi Gab-won, who was in charge of producing all of IU's albums released so far, provided high-quality works. At the center, the best composers in Korea, such as Kim Do-hoon, Han Sang-won, Lee Jong-hoon, and Min Woong-sik, came together to complete an album that would meet fans' expectations.
The album title, [IU… IM] said “IU… As the meaning of “I am” means that IU directly conveys the emotions and thoughts she sees, hears, and feels through her songs, and through this album, she plans to showcase the lively yet pure sensibility of a 17-year-old girl. The title song 'Marshmallow' is based on 'Rock and Roll' of the 1960s and adds the trendiness of 'French Pop', which is currently in vogue around the world. Korea's best producer and composer Kim Do-hoon and Park Soo-jong collaborated to write and present a song just for IU. 'Marshmallow' was written by Choi Gap-won, the producer of this album and the lyricist who created numerous hit songs. 앨범 타이틀인 [IU…IM]은 “아이유…나는”이라는 뜻 그대로 아이유가 보고 듣고 느끼는 감정과 생각들을 그녀의 노래를 통해 직접 전한다는 뜻을 담고 있으며 이번 앨범을 통해 열일곱 소녀의 발랄하면서도 순수한 감성을 선보일 예정이다. 타이틀곡 ‘마쉬멜로우’는 60년대 ‘록앤롤’을 바탕으로 현재 전세계적으로 유행하고 있는 ‘프렌치팝’의 트렌디함을 가미한 곡으로 복고적인 사운드와 현대적인 감각을 동시에 느낄 수 있는 곡이다. 국내 최고의 프로듀서이자 작곡가인 김도훈과 박수종이 함께 한 작품으로 아이유만을 위해 곡을 쓰고 선물했다. ‘마쉬멜로우’는 이 앨범의 프로듀서이자 수 많은 히트작을 탄생시킨 작사가 최갑원이 가사를 썼다. 지난 상반기 ‘Boo’로 풋풋한 귀여움을 선보였던 아이유는 이번 ‘마쉬멜로우’를 통해 한 단계 업그레이드된 깜찍한 모습과 함께 성숙해진 여성스러움까지 만나볼 수 있다.
