Thunder returns as a solo musician.
As this is an album after leaving the group MBLAQ and moving to a new agency, I had a lot of thoughts about what kind of music to show. There were easier and more comfortable paths, but Thunder wanted to show that he had grown and developed musically, even if it took time. I just silently made music with the hope that the public would recognize the solo musician named Cheondung, and furthermore, acknowledge it.
I received intensive vocal training, which I felt was lacking, and also worked hard on writing lyrics and composing. Cheondung, who claims to relieve stress through music, was a musician to the core. The album was perfected to the extent that it would take up to six months to develop one song. There were times when I missed the stage and it was difficult, but whenever that happened, I calmed down and focused more on music.
With so much patience and effort, it took two full years to complete the first result of Thunder. It is an album that contains the color of Thunder's music and everything about Thunder. With that meaning in mind, the album was named 'THUNDER', an English word for thunder. With this, Mystic Entertainment has another young musician who is self-producing.
Thunder's first solo mini-album 'THUNDER' contains a total of 5 songs, and Thunder participated in writing, composing and producing all songs. The genre of the album is 'Pop', which is the genre of music that Cheondung likes and listens to the most, and it is also the music direction that Cheondung will pursue as a solo artist in the future.
The title song 'Sign' is a song with a funky guitar riff and a unique rhythm. The carefully prepared performance along with the song doubles the immersion of the song.
Many people supported Cheondung for his first solo album. First of all, producer Jo Young-chul, who highly appreciated Cheondung's musical talent and gave advice and encouragement to make an album on his own, acted as a co-producer with Cheondung. In addition, Bae Jin-ryeol (JR Groove), Cheongdam Super, KZ, east4A, and lyricist Kim Ea-na co-composed and wrote the lyrics. 그룹 엠블랙 탈퇴 후 새 소속사로 옮기고 나오는 앨범인 만큼 어떤 음악을 보여줘야 할지 많은 고민이 있었다. 좀 더 쉽고 편한 길도 있었지만, 천둥은 시간은 걸리더라도 음악적으로 성장하고 발전한 모습을 보여주고 싶었다. 오로지 대중이 천둥이라는 솔로 뮤지션을 알아주길, 더 나아가 인정해주길 바라는 마음 하나로 그저 묵묵히 음악을 만들었다.
부족하다고 느꼈던 보컬 트레이닝을 집중적으로 받았고, 작사, 작곡 작업에도 매진했다. 스트레스를 음악 작업으로 푼다는 천둥은 뼛속까지 뮤지션이었다. 한 곡을 디벨롭하는데 길게는 6개월이 걸릴 정도로 앨범의 완성도를 기했다. 무대가 그리워 힘든 시기도 있었지만 그럴 때마다 마음을 다잡으며 더욱 음악 작업에 열중했다.
그렇게 인내하고 노력하여, 꼬박 2년이 걸려 천둥의 첫 결과물이 완성됐다. 천둥의 음악 색깔이, 천둥의 모든 것이 담긴 앨범이다. 그 의미를 담아 앨범명도 천둥을 영어로 표기한 'THUNDER'로 지었다. 이로써 미스틱엔터테인먼트는 또 한 명의 셀프 프로듀싱을 하는 젊은 뮤지션을 보유하게 됐다.
