I discovered her main band, Jaurim, 20 years ago when I was visiting Korea. Since then I've kept buying Jaurim albums -- I am pretty sure I have them all -- and really loving most of them. I recently discovered Kim Yoon-Ah's solo efforts, and am fully hooked on them now too. She is some sort of brilliant prodigy - an apparently inexhaustible talent. From what I gather online, she appears a lot on tv in various forums, regularly puts albums out, and even does some sort of public speaking. She seems to handle it all effortlessly. I think this is her best solo album - the most musically evolved, ranging from a Dixiesh jazz sound to brooding melodies to more, with that voice that flutters, soars, dives, and hits you in the heart again and again. Pure feeling. I don't understand the lyrics but that doesn't matter. Listen to this on Youtube and see for yourself if you need convincing. I'm only sorry this has so few songs - it's really just a bit longer than an EP. The first one is 45 seconds of silence. I would cry "pretentious" if I didn't have such respect for Ms. Kim and love the rest of the album so much.
