나이를 먹어가면서 고민 정도는 척척 해결할 수 있는 사람이 될 줄 알았는데, 시간이 가면서 오히려 더 사는 게 어려워지고 고민이 많아졌다. 지금 내가 맞는 건지, 잘하고 있는 건지, 어떻게 살 것인지, 무엇을 하고 싶은지, 복잡한 감정과 생각들이 꼬리에 꼬리를 물고 이어지는 밤과 또 새로운 아침이 되면 이런 고민 따윈 아무렇지도 않은 척 괜찮은 척하는 나의 모습. 누구나 한번쯤은 느껴보았을 공허함과 아직도 손끝에 잡히지 않는 내 삶의 방향성을 오래 고민하고 생각하는 모습은 영화 ‘파이트 클럽’의 나레이터가 겪었던 끝없는 불면의 밤과 또 다시 이어진다.

그 길고 긴 고민 속에서 그는 멤버들보다 다시 세상에 먼저 나온 지금에서야 비로소 자신의 목소리를 들려줄 준비를 한다. 그룹 활동이 좋아서, 함께 부르는 노래가 더 좋아서, 솔로 앨범을 생각하지 않았다고 말하며 슬쩍 웃었던, 그가 부르는 그의 노래들은 차분하고 덤덤한 그의 목소리와 꼭 닮았다.
