[SURL (Seol) 1st regular album 'of us']The melting snow, the shady dark blue dawn, the ivory light of small lights that spread softly into the deep night. When listening to SURL's songs, complex images that are difficult to express with precise words color your ears. Firecrackers in the night sky disappear with faint afterimages, Jill after rain is like footprints that disappear as soon as they are engraved on the ground. In 2018, when I first heard SURL's music, I felt like deja vu.

When I listen to SURL's music, I always draw landscapes. The lyrics are implicit like poetry and do not enumerate many stories. However, the images that come to mind between the sentences remain like afterimages in my head and complete a story like a short film. SURL's first regular album [of us] also draws a story in front of your eyes, one by one, with fantastic and cool gazes intersecting. Starting with 'Rope', which raises the tension like the opening of a movie, 10 songs are screened in various genres of movies that go back and forth between characters called SURL. '

The youth, who live an intangible life that is thrilling and heart-pounding, but has no substance, cries, laughs, runs, and walks, taking a step today. [SURL (설) 정규 1집 'of us']사르륵 녹아나는 눈, 아스라한 검푸른 새벽, 깊은 밤 여리게 퍼져나가는 작은 조명의 상앗빛. SURL의 노래를 듣고 있으면 무언가 정확한 단어로 형언하기 어려운 복합적 심상들이 귓가를 물들인다. 밤하늘의 폭죽이 희미하게 잔상과 함께 사라지고, 비온 뒤 질은 땅에 새겨짐과 동시에 문드러져 사라지는 발자국 같은 한없이 무르고 아련한 그리움. 2018년, SURL의 음악을 처음 들었을 때가 마치 데자뷰처럼 밀려온다.

SURL의 음악을 듣고 있으면 언제나 풍경을 그리게 된다. 가사는 시처럼 함축적이고 많은 이야기를 열거하지 않는다. 하지만 그 문장 문장 사이 떠오르는 이미지들은 머릿속에 잔상처럼 남아 단편 영화처럼 하나의 스토리를 완성한다. SURL의 정규 1집 [of us] 역시 환상적이면서도 서늘한 시선이 교차되며 한곡 한곡 눈앞에 이야기를 그려낸다. 영화 오프닝같이 긴장감을 끌어올리는 'Rope'를 시작으로 10곡의 노래들은 SURL 이란 캐릭터 사이를 오가는 다양한 장르의 영화가 상영된다. '
