hello. This is Solar.
For my second mini-album [COLOURS], I expressed six pieces of music from different genres in my own colors.

The goal of this album is to show my various colors in a variety of ways, but it also contains the meaning of supporting and respecting your diversity, just as each person has their own unique personality, taste, and values.
I hope my message reaches many people through this album.

I'm back with a solo album after two years, and since it took me so long, I'll repay you with good songs. :)

Mamamoo's Solar returned with her second mini album after two years. This album [COLOURS] contains 6 songs of various genres with the ambition to show Solar's diverse charms through the keyword 'COLOUR'.

Furthermore, we encourage the countless 'OURs' living together in the contemporary world to find their various original colors (OURS), including individuality, charm, identity, and values, and create a harmonious and colorful world by respecting each other's colors. The album name contains the meaning of ‘let’s go’.

Through this album, respect and reflection on 'diversity' are deeply expressed, and the more mature artist Solar even depicts the emotions and values she feels when looking at the world.

The title song 'But I' is a song that combines the R&B and rock genres to cheerfully take revenge on people who hurt them without getting tired. In addition, Solar's colorful colors will be showcased through six songs of different genres, including 'Colors', 'Empty', 'Honey Honey', 'Easy Peasy', and 'Blues', which convey the album's message.

'Colors' is a house genre song. Just like the colors, there are so many different people in the world. We all have different personalities and appearances. Even though I may be looked at because I am different from most people, I think it is just different and not wrong. Everyone deserves respect and we deserve to be loved no matter what we look like. This song is a song that gives those people a lot of confidence.

It is also a very challenging song for me as it is the song that made me try the dance genre of voguing for the first time.
At first, I was afraid of something new, but I was able to quickly overcome it by thinking about the lyrics of the song. I hope we all don't be afraid and face new things confidently.

The title song 'But I' is a song that combines R&B and rock genres.
This is a story about someone who hurt me, whose petals may fall for a moment, but then bloom again and take revenge in a refreshing way.
There are many good people around me who support me, and we are strong enough people to overcome this successfully.
I hope you don't get tired of people who hurt you.

I think this is the first time in my career that I am performing a title role with a band without choreography. I've always wanted to try Rock, and I finally did it. So I think it's newer and comes as a fresh stimulus to me.

‘Empty’ is a song I wrote at times when I felt sentimental and lonely. I wrote lyrics that accept loneliness as it is. It is a pop ballad song that goes well with the lyrics, and was released to fans unreleased a few years ago, but has finally been included in this album.
I think I also receive a lot of comfort while singing ‘Empty’. I hope that fans who listen to this song will also receive a lot of comfort and sympathy.

Coincidentally, I have quite a few songs related to honey. I guess a song as sweet as honey suits me well haha.

'Easy Peasy' is folk music that contains a message to many people who are tired of the world.
There's a saying that says it's a piece of cake, right? I used that proverb in the introduction as a way of irony, so even though today was a really hard day, I tried to solve it in a fun way, as if it was no big deal and I did it easily.
I wanted to say something that may not be flashy, but could convey calm comfort to the many people who are having a hard time yesterday, today, and tomorrow.

The long-awaited final sixth! 'Blues' is, as the title suggests, a song of the blues genre that shows the colors of the person I am.
Although it is not a style that is often performed these days, both the lyrics and the music felt like a song that represents “Solar” and “Kim Yong-seon” as they are.
I think it might be the nastiest yet most charismatic song on this album.

'Colors'는 하우스 장르의 곡으로 다채로운 색깔처럼 세상에는 참 다양한 사람들이 있습니다. 우리는 모두 다른 성격과 다른 모습을 하고 있는데요. 대다수의 사람들과 달라 시선을 받게 되더라도, 그저 다름일 뿐 틀린 것은 아니라고 생각해요. 모든 사람은 존중받아야 하고 우리는 어떠한 모습을 띄고 있든 사랑받아 마땅합니다. 이 노래는 그런 이들에게 자신감을 잔뜩 불어넣어 주는 곡이에요.

또 처음으로 보깅이라는 춤 장르에 도전하게 해준 곡으로 저에게도 굉장히 도전적인 곡이에요.
처음엔 새로움이란 것에 대한 두려움이 있었지만 노래 가사를 생각하면서 금방 극복해 낼 수 있었어요. 우리 모두 두려워하지 말고 당당히 새로움에 맞서 나갔으면 좋겠습니다.

타이틀곡 'But I'는 R&B와 Rock 장르가 어우러진 곡이에요.
나를 아프게 한 대상 때문에 잠시 꽃잎이 떨어질 수 있지만 다시금 새롭게 피어나며 통쾌하게 복수하는 내용입니다.
주변에 나를 위해주는 좋은 사람들이 많이 있고, 우리는 충분히 멋지게 이겨낼 수 있는 강한 사람이니까요.
굳이 상처받게 하는 사람들 때문에 지치지 않았으면 좋겠습니다.

활동하면서 처음으로 안무 없이 밴드와 타이틀을 해보는 것 같아요. 늘 Rock에 도전하고 싶은 마음이 간절했는데 드디어 하게 되었습니다. 그래서 더 새롭고 저에게도 신선한 자극으로 다가오는 것 같아요.

'텅 (Empty)'은 가끔 센치해지고 외로운 마음이 들 때, 그럴 때 썼던 곡인데요. 외로운 마음을 있는 그대로 받아들이는 가사를 써봤어요. 가사와 잘 어우러지는 팝 발라드곡으로 몇 년 전에 미공개로 팬분들께 들려 드렸었는데 드디어 이번 앨범에 실리게 되었습니다.
'텅 (Empty)'을 부르면서 저도 많은 위로를 받게 되는 것 같아요. 이 노래를 듣는 팬분들도 많은 위로와 공감을 받았으면 좋겠습니다.

'Honey Honey'는 제목처럼 이번 앨범에서 가장 사랑스럽고 두근거리는 가사가 담긴 R&B 장르에요.
공교롭게도 제가 꿀에 관련된 노래들이 꽤(?) 있어요. 꿀처럼 달콤한 곡이 저와 잘 맞나 봐요 ㅋㅋ

새콤하면서도 달달하고 그러면서도 끈적이는 'Honey Honey' 들으면서 오늘도 솔라로 가득 찬, 사랑 가득한 하루 되길 바랄게요. :)

'Easy Peasy'는 세상에 지친 많은 이들에게 전하는 메시지를 담은 포크 음악이에요.
속담 중에 식은 죽 먹기라는 말이 있잖아요? 도입부에 해당 속담을 반어법으로 사용해서 오늘 하루도 너무 힘들었지만 마치 별거 아니네 하면서 쉽게 해낸 것처럼 재밌게 풀어봤어요.
어제도 오늘도 내일도 힘겹게 하루를 버텨내는 많은 이들에게 화려하지 않지만, 잔잔한 위로를 전할 수 있는 말들을 하고 싶었습니다.

요즘 많이 하는 스타일이 아니지만 가사와 음악 모두 “솔라”, “김용선”을 그대로를 보여주는 곡처럼 느껴졌어요.
이번 앨범에서 가장 나다우면서도 가장 카리스마 있는 곡이지 않을까 싶습니다.
