This album is an album that stands out with the visuals of five people who seem to have jumped out of romance comics that fit the modifier cartoon idol. With the concept of 24 hours a day, this album consists of 5 tracks that would be nice to listen to at each time of the day. 지난 2월 차별화된 음악과 퍼포먼스 그리고 비주얼로 새롭게 태어나며 카툰돌로 돌아왔던 뉴이스트가 오는 8월 29일 자정 더 파격적이고 업그레이드 된 모습의 미니앨범 NU'EST 5th Mini Album 'CANVAS'를 발표한다.
이번 앨범은 카툰돌이라는 수식어에 걸맞은 순정만화에서 튀어나온 듯한 다섯 명의 비주얼이 단연 돋보이는 앨범이다. 하루 24시간을 컨셉으로 잡은 이번 앨범은 24시간 각 시간대별로 듣는다면 좋을 트랙 5곡으로 구성되어 있다. 이에 더해 총 5곡으로 구성된 이번 앨범의 작사, 작곡에 뉴이스트 멤버가 직접 참여하는 등 뉴이스트만의 음악적 색깔이 그 어느 때보다 잘 나타나 있어 눈길을 끈다.
이번 앨범의 타이틀곡 'Love Paint (every afternoon)'는 퓨처베이스와 R&B를 기반으로 클래식한 오케스트라 사운드를 얹은 뉴이스트만을 위해 만들어진 곡이다. 디테일하고 감성적인 멜로디와 백호와 민현의 보컬로서의 매력을 극대화 시킨 세련되고 힘찬 멜로디가 인상적이다. 앨범명인 'CANVAS'라는 단어를 가장 잘 표현해 놓은 서정적이면서도 감각적인 가사는 뉴이스트 전 멤버와 태연, 소녀시대, 동방신기, 카라 등의 곡을 작사한 유명 작사가 Mafly 그리고 BUMZU의 의기투합으로 완성되었다.
