Monsta X has returned with their third U.S. studio album, [Unfold].

'Unfold'. It means unfolding what was folded. Everything about this album is compressed within that single word. Over the past decade, they were intense on stage. They were fierce. That is why they had to put so many things aside. Wounds, growing pains, fading love, and even the inner voices they themselves were unaware of. [Unfold] is a record of all those things finally beginning to breathe.

- Heal, How to Breathe Again with Wounds
The title track 'heal,' which opens the album, is a song that questions the meaning of 'true recovery' within a relationship where wounds are repeatedly inflicted while unable to let go of each other.

"A nail in the heart. The more you love, the deeper it is driven, and the deeper it grows, the wider the wound opens." This is the premise of the song. Wounds cannot be erased. Yet, we still love. This song poses the question to the very end: can love truly be a healing?

Heavy and majestic sounds build up layer upon layer, vividly revealing emotional tension and fissures. Amidst the gradual progression rushing from a restrained intro to an explosive chorus, a paradoxical truth is revealed: that love can be a source of comfort, but also another wound.

The music video completes this message through visual language. Red nails, hammers, and skeins of thread. The process in which a lighthearted word becomes a hammer, and emotions become nails driven into the heart. It is the story of the members facing their wounds in their own rooms, in their own ways. And in the final scene, they embrace each other without explanation. Still together.

[Unfold] is an album with a clear narrative.

Two pre-release singles have already set the tone for the album. 'Baby Blue' recalled the fading afterimages of love, while 'Growing Pains' calmly confessed the turbulent ten years. [Unfold] brings out even more emotions rooted in those two stories.

The album's tracks capture love at different temperatures. From 'this!', which captures sensual excitement over a modern R&B groove, to 'before you met me', a cinematic pop ballad depicting the time spent trying to change each other within love, and finally to 'glass half empty', a contemporary pop track that likens the inner self, consumed for the sake of others, to an 'empty glass'.

The common thread among these songs is this: they do not romanticize emotions. Love is not always beautiful. It is exciting, yet it is exhausting. It is passionate, but eventually cools down. We hurt others and are hurt. [Unfold] honestly lays bare all these facets. Within this album, they exist not as Monsta X as perfect performers, but as human beings who have loved and been hurt.

The atmosphere of the latter half takes a different tone. There is 'Main Attraction,' where confidence is regained through a Newtro synth-pop sound; 'Enemies with Benefits,' which elegantly captures a precarious relationship where love and hate intersect; and 'On Our Way,' where the heart starts to flutter again. Finally, 'Sorry to Myself,' which crowns the album, is a song in which one apologizes to oneself rather than the other person in the face of a breakup. 'Unfold'. 접혀 있던 것을 펼친다는 뜻이다. 그 한 단어 안에 이 앨범의 모든 것이 압축되어 있다. 지난 10년, 그들은 무대 위에서 강렬했다. 치열했다. 그래서 더 많은 것들을 접어두어야 했다. 상처, 성장통, 바래가는 사랑, 자기 자신도 몰랐던 내면의 목소리까지. [Unfold]는 그 모든 것들이 마침내 숨을 쉬기 시작한 기록이다.
