[LILAC], the first full-length album released in four years, is unlike the first album [Spring in the 20s], which was released with the candid and fresh sensibility of a 20-year-old. It contains only the matured sensibility.

IU, who also participated in producing as well as composing and writing lyrics for all songs, tried new genres and presented songs with high perfection through new collaborations with various top-notch artists at home and abroad. It is also giving anticipation to show.

2. Flu
When I write lyrics with the subject matter of 'love', the sense that I put first is 'pain'. When I finally realized that this emotion that had bothered me uncomfortably was love, I felt as if everything that made up my body was rearranged in a jumbled manner. And the feeling is not really refreshing.
Even if you deny it, it's not long before you completely incapacitate yourself, and it tells the story of struggling against the germs of words and love. //

'Flu', created by hit composer Ryan Jeon and his composing team who participated in various music works, brings the song to life with an addictive hook and dreamy melody unfolding on a minimal urban beat. IU's witty, detailed lyrics and dangerous voice maximize the charm of the song.

3. Coin
Stimulating things are irreplaceably attractive, but in the end, they are harmful to health.

Starting with the sample sound reminiscent of a gaming arena, Poptime's funky groove band soundtrack and IU's melodic line meet to create a new genre that has never been tried before. As a gift from Korea's leading singer-songwriter Naul to IU, the simple yet restrained melody follows the EP and nylon guitar melodies, carefully leading the emotional line. The melodic chorus that breathes like a monologue and Naul's calm chorus further enhances the depth of the song, and the calmly lingering bridge and direct keyed-up final chorus add an honest yet sophisticated feel. The warm electric guitar sound is added to the lyrical string melody that seems like spring has arrived, completing a typical yet emotional contemporary pop sound.

5.Celebrity
There is a friend who has often been treated as an eccentric person due to his eye-catching clothes, slightly unique taste, various talents, defense mechanism derived from shyness, and a clear personality in everything.
Because of those characteristics of that friend, I love him even more, but he said that he has lived with more hatred for the same reason.
It was a lyric that I started writing down what I wanted to say to my 'weird friend', but as I worked on it, I gradually realized that this was also my story. After completing the lyrics, I felt that it wouldn't be unnatural at all to substitute anyone, not just my friend or me, for the main character. Everyone must have felt left out at least once in their lives because I didn't fit the standards set by others.
I want to speak to those who are crude and only born, including my friends.

The pre-released song 'Celebrity' of this regular album swept the music charts at the same time as its release, heralding a splendid comeback. Electronic pop music with a tropical house touch stands out with a light and sophisticated sound, and the drop-type hook mixed with synthesizer and auto-tune blends with IU's voice to add freshness.

6. Rotating Song (Feat. DEAN)

20대의 마지막에 대해 화려한 ‘인사’를 예고했던 아이유가 봄 내음과 함께 다섯 번째 정규앨범 [LILAC]으로 돌아왔다. 4년 만에 선보이는 정규앨범 [LILAC]은 스무 살의 솔직하고 풋풋한 감성을 담아 발표했던 20대의 첫 앨범 [스무 살의 봄]과는 달리, 지금껏 지나온 20대를 10개의 트랙에 다채로운 시각으로 풀어내 그동안의 성숙해진 감성을 오롯이 담았다.

‘사랑’이라는 소재로 가사를 쓸 때 내가 대표적으로 앞세우는 감각은 ‘고통’이다. 불편하게시리 계속 신경 쓰이던 이 감정이 사랑이라는 것을 비로소 자각하게 됐을 때, 나는 내 몸속을 구성하는 모든 것들이 뒤죽박죽 재배열 되는 듯한 느낌을 받는다. 그리고 그 기분은 가히 상쾌하지만은 않다.
바락바락 부정하더라도 결국 얼마 못 가 나를 완전히 무력화시키고 말, 사랑이라는 세균에 맞서 사력을 다해 마지막 반항을 하는 이야기를 담았다. //

히트 작곡가 라이언 전, 그리고 다양한 음악 작업에 참여한 그의 작곡팀이 함께 한 ‘Flu’는 미니멀한 어반 비트에서 펼쳐지는 중독적인 훅과 몽환적인 느낌의 멜로디가 곡에 생동감을 불어넣는다. 위트 넘치는 아이유 특유의 디테일한 가사와 위태로운 보이스는 곡의 매력을 극대화한다.

시선을 끄는 차림과 조금 독특한 취향, 다양한 재능, 낯가림에서 비롯된 방어기제, 매사에 호오가 분명한 성격 등으로 인해 종종 별난 사람 취급을 받아온 친구가 있다.
그 친구의 그런 특징들 때문에 나는 더욱 그 애를 사랑하는데, 본인은 같은 이유로 그동안 미움의 눈초리를 더 많이 받으며 살아왔다고 했다.
나의 ‘별난 친구’에게 해주고 싶은 말들을 적으며 시작했던 가삿말이었지만 작업을 하다 보니 점점 이건 나의 얘기이기도 하다는 걸 깨달았다. 가사를 완성하고 나니 내 친구나 나뿐만이 아니라 그 누구를 주인공에 대입시켜도 전혀 부자연스럽지 않다는 생각이 들었다. 누구나 살면서 한 번쯤은 내가 남들이 만들어 놓은 기준에 맞지 않는 사람이라는 이유로 소외감을 느껴본 적이 있을 테니까.
내 친구를 포함해 투박하고도 유일하게 태어난 이들에게 말하고 싶다.
당신은 별난 사람이 아니라 별 같은 사람이라고. //
