Huckleberry Finn's eighth studio album, *A Story Everyone Knows*, begins not with a story moving forward, but by first reconnecting with the selves left behind.
The songs on this album feature bats, faces in the mirror, anxiety sitting in the back seat, people lost in a long separation, and the songs that have protected oneself. Although they appear to be distinct entities, they are all parts of one person.
A bat living in darkness longs for light. However, just because it wants light, it cannot abandon the body that has lived in darkness.
The person standing before the mirror waits for someone to save them, only to discover that the one remaining in the end is themselves. Even on the new face born after the old world has collapsed, the previous name, scars, and love do not disappear but remain.
So, changing in this album does not mean cutting out your past self and becoming a completely different person.
It is the act of reclaiming as one's own the life left unlived, the desires turned away, and the choices surrendered out of fear. It is the act of creating a space within one person where contradictory beings can live together.
The short confession "My song is my talisman," repeated in the chorus of *Melancholia*—the second single following *Bat*—shows the sentiment that runs through *A Story Everyone Knows*.
Huckleberry Finn has been singing about countless nights and darkness since 1997. However, in this album, darkness does not exist merely as a place to escape from.
There, together are the faces we have kept hidden, the power we have not yet used, and the lives we have not lived.
Therefore, [The Story Everyone Knows] is not a simple story of moving from darkness to light.
It is a story about a being belonging to darkness yearning for light, and a person harboring their past self being reborn with a new name. It is also a story about a person filled with fear reclaiming their right to choose.
These changes are repeated in the sound as well.
The low, murmuring voice suddenly explodes with a massive band sound. The suppressed guitars and drums surge out all at once. Some songs return slowly like old memories. Others soar briefly and violently, like a creature breaking free from its physical limits to take flight.
This is not music by people who have overcome all their wounds.
This is the music of people who refuse to let the darkness and contradictions within themselves become as if they never existed. It is the music of those who take their past selves with them instead of discarding them, and of those who sing their own songs a little louder than the voice of fear instead of silencing it.

허클베리핀의 여덟 번째 정규 앨범 [모두가 아는 이야기]는 앞으로 나아가는 이야기보다, 먼저 뒤에 남겨둔 자신들을 다시 만나는 데서 시작합니다.
이번 앨범의 노래에는 박쥐와 거울 속의 얼굴, 뒷자리에 앉은 불안, 오래 헤어진 사람들, 그리고 자신을 지켜온 노래가 등장합니다. 서로 다른 존재처럼 보이지만, 이들은 모두 한 사람의 일부입니다.
어둠 속에 사는 박쥐는 빛을 갈망합니다. 그러나 빛을 원한다고 해서 어둠 속에서 살아온 몸을 버릴 수는 없습니다.

자신이 선택하지 않은 삶을 오래 살아온 사람.
사라졌다고 생각했던 그들은 정말 사라진 것일까요.
허클베리핀의 여덟 번째 정규 앨범 [모두가 아는 이야기]는 앞으로 나아가는 이야기보다, 먼저 뒤에 남겨둔 자신들을 다시 만나는 데서 시작합니다.
이번 앨범의 노래에는 박쥐와 거울 속의 얼굴, 뒷자리에 앉은 불안, 오래 헤어진 사람들, 그리고 자신을 지켜온 노래가 등장합니다. 서로 다른 존재처럼 보이지만, 이들은 모두 한 사람의 일부입니다.
어둠 속에 사는 박쥐는 빛을 갈망합니다. 그러나 빛을 원한다고 해서 어둠 속에서 살아온 몸을 버릴 수는 없습니다.
거울 앞에 선 사람은 자신을 구해줄 누군가를 기다리다가, 마지막에 남은 사람이 자기 자신임을 발견합니다. 오래된 세계가 무너진 뒤 태어난 새로운 얼굴에도 이전의 이름과 상처와 사랑은 사라지지 않고 남아 있습니다.
그래서 이번 앨범에서 변화한다는 것은 과거의 자신을 잘라내고 전혀 다른 사람이 되는 일이 아닙니다.
살지 못한 삶과 외면했던 욕망, 두려워서 내어주었던 선택을 다시 자신의 것으로 받아들이는 일입니다. 서로 모순되는 존재들이 한 사람 안에서 함께 살아갈 자리를 만드는 일입니다.
박쥐에 이은 두 번째 싱글 곡 <멜랑콜리아>에서 반복되는 후렴구 '나의 노래는 나의 부적'이라는 이 짧은 고백은 [모두가 아는 이야기]를 관통하는 정서를 보여줍니다.
허클베리핀은 1997년부터 수많은 밤과 어둠을 노래해 왔습니다. 하지만 이번 앨범에서 어둠은 벗어나야 할 장소로만 존재하지 않습니다.
그곳에는 우리가 숨겨두었던 얼굴과 아직 사용하지 못한 힘, 살아보지 못한 삶이 함께 있습니다.
그러므로 [모두가 아는 이야기]는 어둠에서 빛으로 이동하는 단순한 이야기가 아닙니다.
어둠에 속한 존재가 빛을 갈망하고, 과거의 자신을 품은 사람이 새로운 이름으로 태어나는 이야기입니다. 두려움을 지닌 사람이 자신의 선택권을 되찾는 이야기이기도 합니다.
사운드에서도 이러한 변화는 반복됩니다.
낮게 읊조리는 목소리는 어느 순간 거대한 밴드 사운드와 함께 폭발합니다. 억눌려 있던 기타와 드럼은 한꺼번에 밀려 나옵니다. 어떤 곡은 오래된 기억처럼 천천히 돌아옵니다. 또 어떤 곡은 한 생물이 몸의 한계를 넘어 날아오르듯 짧고 격렬하게 솟구칩니다.
이것은 상처를 모두 극복한 사람들의 음악이 아닙니다.
