Ha Hyun-woo, one of the best vocalists in Korea, will release his first solo album in 10 years after debuting with the band Guckkasten. It is a story about Ithaca, a dream that has been cherished in the heart for a long time.

After reading Konstantin Cavafi's poem 'Ithaca', Ha Hyun-woo established Ithaca as a symbol, goal, value, and ideal that existed as a dream. Recently, he set out on a journey to Ithaca through the tvN entertainment program 'Road to Ithaca', and completed his first solo album by combining the results of recording the precious experiences and emotions he felt during the journey with music.

In this album, Ha Hyun-woo consistently focuses on his dream, his path, and the process of going there. In addition to the regret of the reality that everyone is becoming a loser due to consequentialism, the essence of dreams that dreams should be like a compass that tells us how to live, not material things, is emphasized.

The title song 'Home' is a song about the journey of returning home and the reason behind it. In the midst of fear and wandering in an unfamiliar space far away, I found myself who was closest to me and forgot about familiarity, and I drew a process of going back by revealing a small dream I had from home.

If 'Home' woke me up from a dream and ignited the embers of a forgotten dream, the following b-side songs tell the story of moving toward that dream again. 'Hanga', which means to sing on the road, takes out a letter written to me that I have been carrying for a long time and goes out and sings in various landscapes. The song compares the childhood of chasing a rainbow in love to a boy chasing a dream.

The performance song 'Ithaca' expresses the passionately fluctuating mind of an island that seemed to exist only in mythology. The piano version was played by AEV, a pianist who has always worked together on stage, and in the guitar version, the sound recorded in the olive tree off the coast of Ithaca Island was added to give a special feeling as if you were there, and the CD and LP limited edition and other special bonus parts are hidden.

Ha Hyun-woo, who was in charge of writing lyrics, composing, and arranging at Guckkasten, completed this solo album through collaboration with various people. Song Yang-ha and Kim Jae-hyun collaborated on the arrangement of the title song 'Home', and Kim Jun-hyun, a comedian he met on the road to Ithaca, participated in 'Rainbow Boy' as a harmonica player. In order to give it to you, I commissioned guitarist Jeong Seong-ha, who is like Sam, who is not in full swing. Ha Hyun-woo's first solo album is more meaningful because he set out on a path toward a dream together by collaborating with others rather than taking the breath he was working on previously. 국내 최고의 보컬리스트로 꼽히는 하현우가 밴드 국카스텐으로 데뷔 후 10년 만에 처음으로 솔로 앨범을 발매한다. 오랜 시간 가슴 속에 품어왔던 꿈, 이타카 [Ithaca]에 대한 이야기다.

콘스탄틴 카바피의 시 ‘이타카’를 읽은 후 하현우에게 이타카는 꿈으로 존재했던 상징이자 목표, 가치관과 이상 같은 것으로 자리 잡았다. 최근 tvN 예능 프로그램 ‘이타카로 가는 길’을 통해 이타카로의 여행길에 나섰던 그는 여정에서 느낀 소중한 경험과 감정을 음악으로 기록한 결과물을 엮어 첫 솔로 앨범을 완성했다.

하현우는 이번 앨범에서 꾸준히 꿈과 길 그리고 그곳으로 가는 과정에 집중한다. 결과주의 때문에 모두 패배자가 되어가고 있는 현실에 대한 회한과 더불어 꿈은 물질적인 것이 아닌 어떻게 살아가야 하는지를 알려주는 나침반과 같은 존재여야 한다는 꿈의 본질을 강조하고 있다.

타이틀 곡인 ‘Home’은 집을 떠나 다시 돌아오는 회귀의 여정과 그 이유에 관한 곡이다. 멀리 떠난 낯선 공간에서 느끼는 두려움과 방황 속에서 가장 가까이에 있어 익숙함에 잊고 있던 나를 발견해내고 집에서부터 품고 온 작은 꿈을 밝혀 다시 돌아가는 과정을 그려냈다.

‘Home’이 꿈에서 멀어졌던 나를 일깨우고 잊고 있던 꿈의 불씨를 지폈다면, 이어지는 수록곡들에서는 그 꿈을 향해 다시 나아가는 이야기를 풀어내고 있다. 길 위에서 노래한다는 의미의 ‘항가(巷歌)’는 오랫동안 품속에 지니고 있던 나에게 쓴 편지를 꺼내 밖으로 나가 여러 풍경 속에서 노래한다는 내용을 담고 있으며, ‘무지개 소년’은 아무런 대가 없이 아름다움과 신비로움에 반해 무지개를 쫓아다녔던 어릴 적 모습을 꿈을 쫓는 소년에 비유해 노래하고 있다.

연주곡인 ‘Ithaca’는 신화 속에서만 존재할 것 같았던 섬을 실제로 마주하고 격정적으로 요동치는 마음을 표현해냈으며, 피아노와 기타 두 가지 버전으로 작업해 앨범의 첫 번째 트랙과 마지막 트랙을 장식하고 있다. 피아노 버전은 평소 무대에서 함께 합을 맞춰 온 피아니스트 AEV가 연주했으며, 기타 버전에서는 실제 이타카 섬의 올리브 나무 앞바다에서 녹음한 소리를 넣어 현장감을 살려 그곳에 있는 듯한 특별한 느낌을 주었고, CD와 LP 한정판에는 음원과 다른 특별한 보너스 부분이 숨어있다.

국카스텐에서 작사, 작곡, 편곡까지 도맡아 했던 하현우는 이번 솔로 앨범에서는 다양한 사람들과 협업을 통해 완성했다. 타이틀 곡 ‘Home’의 편곡은 송양하, 김재현 작곡가가 함께했으며, ‘무지개 소년’에는 이타카로 가는 길을 통해 만난 개그맨 김준현이 하모니카 연주로 참여했고, ‘Ithaca’의 기타 버전은 풋풋하고 생생한 느낌을 주기 위해 한창 마르지 않은 샘 같은 기타리스트 정성하에게 의뢰했다. 기존 작업하던 호흡을 가져가는 것이 아닌 다른 이들과의 호흡을 맞춰 함께 꿈을 향한 길을 나선 하현우의 첫 솔로 앨범은 그래서 더욱 의미를 가진다. 그의 꿈이었던 [Ithaca]에 대한 이야기는 단순히 그만의 여정이 아닌 우리 모두의 꿈에 대한 이야기로 이어질 것이다.
