The incident began like this. It was a day in 2025 when AI dependency was starting to take root to the point where it was difficult to even choose a lunch menu without ChatGPT. In an era when the entire nation was intoxicated by this new technology, people no longer wandered in search of the sun god of intellectuals.
However, this child was not a jack-of-all-trades. He frequently spouted unverified information nonchalantly, and often failed to even realize that he did not know. From Socrates' perspective, he was practically a complete idiot. Sure enough, when asked if he knew 'Fishing Girls,' he began to innocently spout exaggerations.
According to GPT, I was a woman named Jang Chaerin in her 20s (thank you), and our hit song (thank you) was a song called 'What's Left Is Fat.' I looked it up, but there was no such song anywhere. As a (thank you) fat person, I was quite offended. On the other hand, I was happy to think that I had found some pretty good material.
That is how I composed the song. And to ensure the song's quality, I didn't neglect managing my weight either. Watching the numbers on the scale climb day by day, I felt increasingly proud. 사랑이 떠난 자리에 남은 것은 무엇일까. 누군가는 추억이라 하고, 누군가는 상처라고 하겠지만 나는 뚱뚱이라 하겠다.
사건의 발단은 이러했다. 챗GPT 없이는 점심 메뉴 하나 고르기도 어려울 만큼 AI 의존증이 싹트기 시작하던 2025년의 어느 날이었다. 전 국민이 이 신문물에 잔뜩 취해 있던 시절, 사람들은 더 이상 지식인의 태양신을 찾아 헤매지 않게 되었다.
하지만 이 아이는 만능이 아니었다. 사실 확인도 되지 않은 정보를 태연하게 지껄이는 일이 빈번했고, 심지어 자신이 모른다는 사실조차 모르는 경우가 허다했다. 소크라테스의 관점에서 보자면 이건 그냥 바보 천치에 가까웠다. 역시나 '피싱걸스'를 아느냐는 질문에도 천진난만하게 허풍을 늘어놓기 시작했다.
GPT의 말대로라면 나는 20대의(고맙다) 장채린이라는 여자였고, 우리의 히트곡(고맙다)은 '남은 건 뚱뚱'이라는 곡이었다. 찾아보니 어디에도 그런 곡은 없었다. (고맙다) 뚱뚱이인 나는 꽤나 긁혔다. 또 한편으로는 꽤나 좋은 소재가 생겼다는 생각에 기뻤다.
그렇게 곡을 만들었다. 그리고 곡의 완성도를 위해 몸무게 관리에도 소홀하지 않았다. 하루하루 늘어가는 체중계의 숫자를 바라보며 마음은 점점 뿌듯해졌다. (그런데 왜 눈물이 나는지는 아직 모르겠다.) 제목만 들어도 누구나 짐작할 수 있는 그런 내용이 맞다. 너는 떠났고, 나는 뚱뚱이가 되었다. 누가 뭐래도 이 노래는 이별 노래다.
함께 먹고, 함께 놀고, 함께 여행하던 날들은 사라졌지만 함께 길들여 놓은 식습관과 배달 앱의 자동 로그인은 여전히 남아 있다. 사랑은 끝났는데, 야식은 왜 끝나지 않는 걸까. 결국 사랑이 끝난 뒤에도 남아 있는 것은 추억일 수도 있고, 너라는 습관일 수도 있고, 배달 앱의 주문 내역일 수도 있다. 그리고 어쩌면…… 뚱뚱일 수도 있다.
