THE SOLUTIONS EP [Fable]

In June 2024, Solutions created a huge rift in the music world with their third album [N/A] after a full 10 years.
Now, a year and a half later, I once again find myself giving myself the word 'transformation'.

In 2025, Solutions continued to advance more relentlessly than ever before. Early this year, they ushered in a new phase with their concert "Maximizer," and this summer, they boldly showcased their experimental prowess with "FUTURE PUNK STAGE I," a stage transformed from an apartment building on the verge of demolition.
"FUTURE PUNK STAGE II," held in the heart of Seongsu-dong, Seoul, in the fall, expanded that imagination to encompass the entire city. And in early winter, "Uhwa," the band's largest concert since their formation, was a moment of declaration that all these trends were ultimately leading toward a single goal. In that sense, this work is the culmination of Solutions' entire journey through 2025, and the first act of their soaring ascent.

The EP's title, "Uhwa (羽化)," originally refers to the process of a pupa shedding its shell and sprouting wings, or the moment of transformation into a new body. For them, the word doesn't simply denote biological metamorphosis; it symbolizes a unique state where destruction and rebirth, extinction and leap forward, occur simultaneously. To advance to the next stage, something must be torn off, something must be discarded, and something must be revealed. "Uhwa" is the name of that very process.

The album cover they chose also visually encapsulates this sensibility. This bizarre landscape, with its twisted wings, overdeveloped pupils, and seemingly dismembered organs, seems to embody the state of "fable," where collapse and birth, transformation and proliferation, occur simultaneously. These images, where cracked shells and thriving tentacles, growth and decay coexist within a single frame, most honestly and metaphorically reveal the process of dismantling and reassembling undertaken by Solutions in this work.

And so, the first thing you hear is Park Sol's voice. The first track, "Gap," is a declaration of no longer hiding, a small crack that opens up a new world, like the song "Reaching out to the cracked, dim light."


After that gap, the title track 'Soul' explodes with passion. The powerful riff and vocals that sound suggestive
It shows off the raw energy and destructive power that only a band can show.

The following "Moon," true to its name, races forward, seemingly breaking through all boundaries. Amidst the exquisite interplay of a distinctive sense of speed and impact, Park Han-sol's impulsive drumming, which surges towards the latter half, maximizes the energy, creating a "form of explosion" that is even more solid and refined than before.

In contrast, "Breath" adds emotional heightening to the expansive and majestic riff. Confessions like "be my breath forever" and "please drink our love" add sincerity, like a hand extended to someone embarking on a grand adventure. On the fifth track, "If I Can Erase My Stained Heart with Love," Park Sol's signature lyrical yet sharp vocals delve deep, while the cascading strings and Naru's wailing guitar further push the emotional arc. The falsetto in the latter half reveals the most delicate strands of hidden sadness amidst a sharpness bordering on screaming.
"Circle" is a moment that naturally creates a crack in the intense flow. It creates space, as if to cool overheated emotions, and subtly shifts the air texture to prepare for the next scene.

"Bell" picks up the pace once again. The heavy riffs and heavy breathing, along with the chorus of "When your last breath swallows you, make me cry," release all remaining energy. Immediately following, "Myeol" is a dramatic, hemi-metal sound that completely burns away all the accumulated energy.

And the last track, 'Me'. This remix is a dismantling and reassembling of the title track 'N/A' from the third regular album [N/A].
It symbolically shows how Solutions comes to terms with its past and where it will start again.
The conclusion is that new wings ultimately emerge from the process of rewriting ‘me’.

The moment a new body is built on top of a dead body,
[Fable] is a record of a 'new me' that has been completed by dismantling and reassembling myself.

A new wing of solutions unfolding through change, reflection, boldness, and persistence.
Now, all that remains is for those wings to fly freely across the sky.

THE SOLUTIONS (솔루션스) EP [우화]

2024년 6월, 장장 10년 만에 3집 [N/A]로 음악 세계에 거대한 균열을 낸 솔루션스.
그로부터 1년 반이 지난 지금 다시 한번, '변신'이라는 단어를 스스로에게 부여했다.

2025년의 솔루션스는 어느 해보다 쉼 없이 전진했다. 올해 초 콘서트 'Maximizer'로 새로운 페이즈의 서막을 열었고, 여름에는 철거 직전의 아파트를 통째로 무대로 전환한 'FUTURE PUNK STAGE I'를 통해 밴드가 가진 실험적인 근력을 거침없이 드러냈다.
가을, 서울 성수동의 한복판에서 열린 'FUTURE PUNK STAGE II'는 그 상상력을 도시 전체로 확장했다. 그리고 초겨울, 밴드 결성 이래 가장 큰 규모로 연 콘서트 '우화'는 이 모든 흐름이 결국, 하나의 목적을 향하고 있었음을 선언하는 순간이었다. 그런 점에서 이 작업은 솔루션스가 2025년 한 해 펼쳐온 모든 여정의 결정체이자, 비상(飛上)의 첫 장면이다.

EP의 제목인 '우화(羽化)'는 본래 번데기가 껍질을 벗고 날개를 갖는 과정, 혹은 새로운 몸으로 갈아타는 순간을 뜻한다. 이들에게 이 단어는 그저 생물학적 변태(變態)를 지시하는 단어가 아닌, 부서짐과 재생, 소멸과 도약이 동시에 일어나는 특유의 상태를 상징한다. 다음 단계로 나아가기 위해선 뜯겨나가야 하는 것이 있고, 버려야 하는 것이 있고, 드러나야 하는 것이 있다. 우화는 바로 그 과정의 이름이다.

이들이 선택한 앨범 커버 역시 이러한 감각을 시각적으로 압축해낸다. 뒤틀린 날개, 과도하게 발달한 눈동자, 서로 다른 생명체에서 뜯어온 듯한 기관들이 뒤엉킨 이 기이한 풍경은 붕괴와 탄생, 변형과 증식이 동시에 일어나는 '우화'의 상태를 그대로 옮겨놓은 듯하다. 갈라진 껍질과 번성하는 촉수, 생장과 부패가 한 화면 안에서 공존하는 이 이미지들은 솔루션스가 이번 작업에서 감행한 해체와 재조립의 과정을 가장 정직하고도 은유적으로 드러낸다.

그렇게, 가장 먼저 들리는 것은 박솔의 목소리뿐이다. 첫 번째 트랙 '틈'은 “갈라진 틈, 희미한 빛에 손을 뻗는다”는 노래처럼, 더 이상 숨지 않겠다는 선언이자 새로운 세계를 여는 작은 균열이 된다.


그 틈을 지나면 곧장 타이틀곡 '혼'이 뜨겁게 폭발한다. 강렬한 리프, 제의적으로 들리는 보컬은
응당 밴드만이 보여줄 수 있는 원초적인 에너지와 정수에 가까운 파괴력을 아낌없이 드러낸다.

이어지는 '문'은 그 이름처럼 모든 경계를 돌파하듯 질주한다. 특유의 속도감과 타격감이 정교하게 맞물린 가운데, 후반부로 갈수록 몰아치듯 쏟아지는 박한솔의 드러밍이 에너지를 극대화하며 이전보다 훨씬 단단하고 정제된 '폭발의 형태'를 완성한다.

'숨'은 이와 대조적으로 광활하고도 웅장한 리프 위에 감정의 고양을 더한다. '영원토록 숨이 되어달라', '부디 우리의 사랑을 마셔달라'는 고백은 거대한 모험 앞에서 함께할 이에게 내미는 손처럼 진심을 더한다. 다섯 번째 트랙 '얼룩진 마음을 사랑으로 지울 수 있다면'에서는 박솔 특유의 서정적이면서도 날선 보컬이 깊이 파고드는 한편, 쏟아지는 현악기와 나루의 울부짖는 듯한 기타가 감정선을 한층 더 밀어 올린다. 후반부의 팔세토는 절규에 가까운 날카로움 속에서, 숨겨온 슬픔의 가장 여린 결을 드러낸다.
'원'은 치열한 흐름 속에서 자연스레 균열을 내는 순간이다. 과열된 정서를 가만히 식혀내듯 여백을 마련하며, 다음 장면으로 넘어가기 위한 공기의 결을 미세하게 바꿔놓는다.

'종'에서는 다시 한번 속도를 끌어올린다. 묵직한 리프와 육중한 호흡 "마지막 숨이 널 삼킬 때 나를 울려달라"는 절창은 남은 에너지를 모두 실어 보낸다. 곧바로 이어지는 '멸'은 급반전의 헤미메탈 사운드로 지금까지 쌓아온 모든 에너지를 가장 극적인 방법으로 완전연소시킨다.

그리고 마지막 트랙 '나'. 정규 3집 [N/A]의 타이틀곡 'N/A'를 해체하고 재조립한 이 리믹스는
솔루션스가 스스로의 과거를 어떻게 받아들이고 어디서 다시 출발할지를 상징적으로 보여준다.
새로운 날개는 결국 '나'를 새로 쓰는 과정에서 돋아난다는 사실을 밝히는 결론이다.

죽은 몸 위에 새로운 몸을 짓는 그 순간,
[우화]는 스스로를 해체하고 재조립하며 완성한 '새로운 나'의 기록이다.

변화와 성찰, 과감함과 집요함으로 펼쳐내는 솔루션스의 새로운 날개.
이제, 그 날개가 거침없이 하늘을 가르는 일만 남았다.
