In June 2020, 'Hwa Sa', the main character of the #MariaChallenge, not only swept domestic and international music charts with her first mini-album and title song 'Maria' of the same name, but also exceeded 1.8 billion views on a single platform. After 1 year and 5 months, they released their 2nd single album [Guilty Pleasure] and are ready to shake the world once again.

지난 2020년 6월 첫 번째 미니앨범과 동명의 타이틀곡 'Maria'를 통해 국내외 음원차트를 휩쓴 것은 물론이고, 단일 플랫폼에서만 조회 수 18억을 넘긴 #마리아챌린지의 주인공 '화사 (Hwa Sa)'. 약 1년 5개월 만에 두 번째 싱글 앨범 [Guilty Pleasure]을 선보이며 다시 한번 세상을 뒤흔들 준비를 마쳤다.

앨범명 [Guilty Pleasure]의 사전적 의미는 '남에게 이야기하거나 본인 스스로 느끼기에도 부끄러운 일이지만, 그럼에도 불구하고 막상 하고 나면 즐거운 일'을 말한다. 어떤 크기일지는 몰라도 죄의식과 함께 비례하는 행복을 느낀다는 것인데, 사실 이것 또한 본능에 의한 것이다. 물론 자연스럽고 합리적인 해소 방법은 아니겠지만, 분명 가끔은 거부하기 힘든 각성제 역할이 될 수 있다.

타이틀곡 'I'm a 빛 (I'm a B)'은 외국 프로듀서진과 처음으로 협업한 곡으로, 묵직한 베이스라인 위에 트렌디한 사운드가 자유롭게 펼쳐져 있다. 그뿐만 아니라 중독성 강한 훅과 화사의 시그니처, 그루비한 보이스는 그 자유로움 안에서 잘 짜인 패턴같이 느껴진다. 이 곡에서 화사는 더 단단하고 완벽해지고자 하는 욕심에 몰입하여 마치 스포트라이트처럼 나를 뺀 주위에 그림자를 내리웠지만, 탁, 하고 온전히 나를 놓은 어느 순간, 그림자를 집어삼키면서 아주 크고 당당한 ㅂㅣㅊ 가 되는 포인트를 이야기하고 있다.

완벽을 욕심내며 이루고자 했던 목표들은 하나같이 자신을 학대하고 삶을 불안전하게 만들었다. 그래서 그 목표에 조금 가까워졌다고 한들 여전히 공허함이 깊지만, 그렇게 지나온 과정 속에서의 쾌락들은 분명 '내'가 살아있음과 행복을 느낄 수 있게 해준다.
