In the summer of that year when it rained endlessly, a mysterious huge gate floated down near the riverside of the city that was swept away by the floodplain.
Local adults mobilize construction vehicles and try to raise it up, but the door on the floor hardly budges.
“Just open the door.”
A boy's voice spread through the air like a drop of water, and at that moment everyone around him closed their mouths and looked at the boy.
The moment the boy approached the door and turned the handle, the door opened lightly, and the deep world inside the door seemed to welcome the boy.
The earth may have tilted slightly the moment the boy took a step into the world beyond the door where new gravity works.
As the boy steps into the world beyond the door and takes his first breath, the heavy air that cannot be tasted in the city reaches deep into his lungs.
The boy immediately smiles as he feels as if he has become part of nature. The world far outside is forgotten.
Slowly enough that even his own name becomes clear.

끝없이 폭우가 쏟아지던 그 해 여름, 수마가 휩쓸고 간 도시의 강변 근처에 정체를 알 수 없는 거대한 문이 떠내려와 있다.
지역의 어른들은 공사차량을 동원해 일으켜 세우려고 애쓰지만 바닥의 문은 좀처럼 꼼짝하지 않는다.
“그냥 문을 열면 되죠.”
한 소년의 목소리가 물방울처럼 공기 중에 번졌고, 그 순간 주변의 모든 사람들은 입을 다물고 소년을 바라본다.
문 앞에 다가간 소년이 손잡이를 돌리는 순간 굳어있던 문은 가볍게 열리고, 문 안쪽의 깊은 세상은 소년을 반기는 듯했다.
새로운 중력이 작용하는 문 너머 세상으로 소년이 한발 성큼 들어가는 순간 지구가 약간은 기울었는지도 모른다.
소년이 문 너머 세상에 발을 딛고 첫 숨을 들이키자 도시에서 맛볼 수 없는 묵직한 공기가 폐 속 깊은 곳에 닿는다.
소년은 금세 자연의 일부가 된 듯한 기분이 들어 웃고 만다. 멀리 바깥의 세상은 잊혀지고 있다.
