Girlfriend puts an end to the "回" series with their third regular album, "回:Walpurgis Night."

The Girlfriend's Hui series is a story about a girl who faces a time of fierce storm as she grows up, when she faces numerous crossroads and struggles with the world because of her choices.

GFRIEND announced the start of the series with their mini-album <回:LABYRINTH> last February. They sang about ‘a girl standing at a crossroads’, expressing the hesitation and confusion at the crossroads of choice, and the situation where numerous choices are spread out as a ‘labyrinth’. The second story <回:Song of the Sirens> contains the voice of temptation and the wavering heart heard at the very moment when one learns the price of the choice one believed to be right. They borrowed the song of the sirens from Greek mythology to tell the story of ‘a girl wavering before temptation’.

In the last of the Hui series, <回:Walpurgis Night>, GFriend finally tells the story of 'a girl who became a witch'. After various experiences, when she finally faces her own desires, she decides to walk her own path without being swayed by others, and this desire is faithfully and confidently expressed as 'the festival of witches'. Walpurgis Nights is an annual spring festival held in Germany and Northern Europe, also known as the 'Witches' Festival'. It is an event to celebrate a new beginning by throwing away the remnants of winter and welcoming spring with bonfires and fireworks. GFriend, who has grown as an artist, expresses herself as an honest and confident 'Modern Witch', completing the last of the 回 series with her changed appearance.

<回:Walpurgis Night> is a story about girls who, after going through countless choices and temptations, are able to see themselves as they are, not through the eyes of others, but from their own perspective. After wandering at crossroads and being swayed by temptations, these girls finally realize what they want, honestly express their desires, and cheer on others who walk the same path as them.

Including the title song 'MAGO', the first unit songs by each member since their debut, the title song and other tracks from the previous album 'Apple', 'Crossroads', 'Labyrinth', and the final track of the album series 'Back of the Front of the Back', the album is completed with a total of 11 tracks. The song is a disco song, featuring an addictive, repetitive chorus. The retro synthesizer, dance-friendly drum beats, and disco bass lines are ear-catching. GFRIEND interpreted the 1980s-style music in their own 2020 style, completing it as “GFRIEND-style disco.” The song was composed by Big Hit Entertainment producer Bang Si-hyuk (“hitman” bang), FRANTS, and Eunha, while Yuju, Eunha, and Umji participated in writing the lyrics.

GFRIEND's 'MAGO' performance shows the return of the irreplaceable 'Performance Queen'. They completed 'GFRIEND's Disco Dance' by adding a free and flashy disco atmosphere to the choreography that symbolizes a witch's party. 9. 교차로 (Crossroads)
아름다운 선율을 바탕으로 강렬한 스트링 사운드와 신스의 반전이 돋보이는 댄스 곡이다. 선택의 기로에 놓인 소녀의 마음 상태를 '교차로'라는 단어로 표현했다. 교차로에 선 채 이 곳에서 멈출 것인지 아니면 건너갈 것인지 어느 방향으로 가야 할지 고민하는 복잡한 심정을 담았다. 스트링과 신스, 어쿠스틱 기타의 조화가 만들어낸 사운드는 박진감 넘치는 롤러코스터를 타는 것과 같은 느낌을 준다. 선택을 해야 하는 복잡한 마음을 키를 바꿔가며 편곡으로 표현한 부분이 인상적이다.
