GFriend, who has established a unique genre with lyrical melodies and powerful performances with each album they release, presents a newer and more complete album this time through a bold change.
With the release of [回:LABYRINTH] last February, GFRIEND showcased their presence as a representative K-pop girl group by unfolding a full-fledged growth narrative with solid storytelling and deeper music.

The story of a girl who wavers before temptation, [回:Song of the Sirens]
In [回:Song of the Sirens], GFRIEND tells the story of a girl who wavers before temptation. If the previous album [回:LABYRINTH] expressed the complicated state of mind of a girl at a crossroads, [回:Song of the Sirens] sings about choosing the path she believed was right but wavering before a different path. The girl, who realizes that her choice comes with a price, listens to the voice that tempts her.
[回:Song of the Sirens] expresses temptation and sway by bringing in the song of the Sirens in Greek mythology, who lured sailors to their deaths with their beautiful songs.
The story of a girl wavering before temptation also connects with our conflict between 'me' and 'the world'. A 20-year-old who has just entered the world. After much thought, she chooses one of the many crossroads, but she constantly compares the world's glamorous-looking things with what she has chosen, and her regrets about the things she did not choose grow. In the midst of the questions, 'Is my choice right?' and 'What if I try a different path?', another path she had never known about unfolds before her eyes. 은하와 유주, 엄지가 작사에 참여한 곡으로, 스스로 고민하고 방향을 찾기보다는 답이 정해진 쉬운 길로 가고 싶은 순간을 노래한다. 이미 정해져 있는 운명처럼 자신의 선택을 누군가 대신해 주었으면 하는 마음을 타로 카드(Tarot Cards)를 보는 행위로 표현했다. 얼터너티브 록(Alternative Rock)을 기반으로 스트링(String)과 신스(Synth)의 악기가 어우러진 록(Rock)과 댄스(Dance) 장르 사이에 묘한 간극이 매력적인 곡이다. 기존에 보여 주었던 청량하고 에너지 넘치는 사운드와 보컬을 그대로 유지하면서도 팝적인 요소가 가미되어 친숙함과 새로운 느낌을 동시에 받을 수 있다.

5. Crème Brûlée
부드러운 느낌의 건반 리프(Riff)와 듣기 쉬운 멜로디가 노래 제목처럼 달콤한 분위기를 자아내는 미디엄 템포의 팝(Pop) 장르의 곡이다. 달콤한 냄새를 풍기지만 다가가면 단단하게 닫혀 있는 유혹적인 상황을 커스터드 크림 위에 설탕을 얹고 표면에 열을 가해 딱딱한 설탕막을 씌운 디저트인 크렘 브륄레(Crème Brûlée)에 비유한 가사가 인상적이다. 여자친구 특유의 섬세하면서도 통통튀는 상큼한 느낌의 보컬과 만나 재미있으면서 중독성 강한 후렴구가 귀를 사로잡는다.

6. 북쪽 계단
포크(Fork) 음악과 90년대 브리티시 록(British Rock) 스타일의 사운드를 녹여낸 팝 발라드(Pop Ballad) 장르의 곡으로, “hitman”bang이 작사, 작곡을 하고 FRANTS가 편곡을 맡았다. 14인조 스트링(String) 연주와 여자친구의 자연스럽고 담담한 보컬이 더해 져 더욱 풍부하고 감성적인 사운드를 느낄 수 있다. 숨차게 올라갈 때는 보지 못했던 풍경들을 내려가는 계단에서 보게 된다는 내용의 가사를 담았다. 내려갈 때 생기는 에너지를 통해 다시 올라갈 수 있음을 이야기하고 있어 따뜻한 위로를 전한다.
