BoA, who has grown from a girl to a 26-year-old woman after 10 years of debut, calmly sings the truth as it is, a useless and sad song of broken heart. This single contains Japanese versions of two songs, including the title song "Only One" and "The Shadow" from the original album "Only One" released in 2 years in Korea in 2012. The title song of this single, "Only One", became a hot topic at SMTOWN LIVE held around the world with couple dances and overwhelming performances, and a package release in Japan was expected, TV TOKYO's "Takeshi no Nippon no Mikata!" It is used as the ending theme song of "No Nippon No Mikata!)" and TVCM image song of "music.jp". The coupling song 「The Shadow」 is used as the theme song for Endong in February and March of the Japanese Fuji TV series 「Uchikuru?! (Uchikuru!?)」.
