A certain \"musical moment\" that occurred in Seoul's Gwanak District 20 years ago is a prime example. Four young people, now known as Song Jae-kyung (9) of 9 and the Numbers, Yoon Deok-won (Green Tea Banana) of Broccoli You Too, Summer of Thought (Chigi Project), and Yoon Jong-yoon (Unpacked Gray) of Elsewhere, came together to release a dubious album titled [Gwanak Youth Folk Council – Vol. 1 Flower Patterned Disposable Tissue\/Expiration Date]. They were unique in that they championed folk music and that they based themselves in Gwanak, not Hongdae. But that wasn't the only difference. Their music, strangely lyrical and imbued with a strangely twisted emotion, sung in youthful voices, was also special. Their music, and Bungabunga Records, which released the Gwanak Youth Folk Council album as their first album, soon became a significant presence in the Hongdae scene. So, it's fortunate that this musical moment continues unabated to this day. This album offers a glimpse into the past of these now-mid-career musicians, as well as their future 20 years from now. In March 2025, they will reunite for a concert to commemorate the album's 20th anniversary.
