2017년 6월 5일, 거미가 9년 만에 다섯 번째 정규 5집 ‘STROKE(스트로크)’를 발표한다. ‘획을 긋다’, ‘품다’ 라는 거미의 다짐을 내포하고 있는 이번 앨범은 R&B 여제, 대한민국을 대표하는 감성 보컬리스트, 독보적인 여성 보컬 등 그 어떤 수식어로도 설명이 불가한 거미의 새로운 도전을 담기에 충분한 앨범이다.
앨범 총괄 프로듀싱를 맡은 대한민국 힙합 씬 최고의 프로듀서 길은 “이번 앨범은 프리즘에 빗대어 보고 싶다. 색을 하나로 정의하기보다는 거미가 정말로 원하고 시도해보고 싶었던 음악을 다양하게 담아냈다. 노래를 작업하는 아티스트도 위로받고 듣는 이도 힐링 받는 노래를 만들어 보고자 했다”라고 전하며 앨범에 대한 기대감을 더하기도 했고, 거미 역시 “9년 만에 발매하는 정규 앨범인 만큼, 그 동안 내가 해왔던 음악을 사랑했던 이들을 위한 곡들부터 ‘거미가 이런 음악도?’라는 생각이 들 정도의 새로운 도전을 담은 곡들까지 담으려고 노력했다”고 전한 만큼 두 사람의 컬래버레이션으로 완성된 환상의 케미스트리를 기대해도 좋다.
