In 2019, with the worldwide acclaim for their 3rd regular album [ONDA], Jambinai was preparing to take a leap to the next level in 2020.
From many global music festivals offering better slots and stages, to tours that are starting to get bigger.
More than 80 performances were planned around the world for 2020, but the unexpected Covid-19 pandemic changed everything.
In line with the changed situation, Jambinai has made various attempts over the past three years.
They announced an acoustic compilation, made several songs into records, and tried to communicate online with listeners around the world. went on Thankful results followed, such as winning two crowns at the 2020 Korean Popular Music Awards and winning the 'Asian Artist of the Year' at the 2020 British Songlines Award.

Also, new works have begun to prepare for a new start after returning to daily life.
This work, released under the title [apparition], is one of the results.
It is said that the album title was chosen in the hope that it would serve as an opportunity for the artist named Jambinai to reveal itself in a clearer form.
The band said that throughout the album, I tried to express a message of comfort to everyone who is going through a difficult time due to the pandemic or the weight of life surrounding them.

Passing through the lead track 'From the Cold Bottom Over There Again', which clearly reveals Jambinai's strong style that reminds one of a landscape where glaciers and volcanoes coexist, Seonwoo Jung-a, whom all Jambinai members choose as one of their favorite artists, is a guest. ‘In an erased place’ with vocal participation, ‘Until my wings turn to ashes’, a tribute to a great failure or unfinished success, and the last track, ‘So Much’, which gives hope, comfort and peace to everyone who is shaken by isolation and conflict. With a new EP consisting of 4 tracks up to 'Little Candle in the Huge Darkness', the band is once again arranging a new starting line. Before the release, a full-fledged warm-up for returning to the international stage began by attending a performance at the Cervantino Festival in Mexico. The tour schedule to tour 11 cities in England, the Netherlands, and Belgium has been confirmed. In addition, more active activities in Korea are also being prepared.

The year 2020, when the Covid-19 pandemic was at its peak, marked the 10th anniversary of Jambinai's debut.
In an interview with British music critic Martin Aston, which was conducted while preparing for the release of this work, there was a question about the moment when the band celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2020.
Jambinai said, 'I prepared a lot of plans, but there were many things that I couldn't achieve due to force majeure circumstances, so I was very sad and sad.'
'I will use that disappointment as a driving force to strive to become a better artist until the 20th anniversary.'

There are twists and turns in everything. There is an ups and downs in everything. Everything goes forward and backward.
However, Jambinai wants to tell us that the only way to reach an undetermined goal is to keep looking for a new starting point and taking steps.
And I want to deliver music that comforts and encourages everyone who walks that step through this work.

2019년 정규 3집앨범 [온다(ONDA)]의 전세계적인 호평과 함께 잠비나이는 2020년 다음 단계로의 도약을 준비하고 있었다.
더욱 좋은 슬롯과 무대를 제안하는 많은 글로벌 음악페스티벌들과 더욱 규모가 커지기 시작한 투어까지
2020년 80회 이상의 공연을 전세계에서 계획하고 있었으나, 예기치 못한 Covid-19 대유행으로 인하여 모든 상황은 급변하게 되었다.
변화된 상황에 맞추어 지난 3년간 잠비나이는 여러가지 시도를 진행했다.
어쿠스틱 편성을 발표하기도 하고, 여러 곡들을 기록물로 만들어 온라인을 통해 전세계의 리스너들과 소통을 이어가고자 했으며, 이를 통해 Audiotree, SXSW Online, 그리고 Tiny Desk (Home) Concert등에 출연하며 계속적인 활동의 끈을 이어갔다. 2020년 한국 대중음악상 2관왕, 2020년 영국 Songlines Award '올해의 아시아 아티스트' 수상 등 감사한 결과들도 뒤따랐다.

그리고 일상으로 돌아와 새로운 출발을 준비하는 시점을 위해 새로운 작업들도 시작되었다.
[발현(發顯/apparition)] 이라는 타이틀로 발매되는 본작이 바로 그 결과물의 하나이다.
잠비나이라는 아티스트가 조금 더 명확한 형태로 모습을 드러내는 계기가 되기를 희망하며 앨범제목을 정했다는
밴드는 앨범 전반에 걸쳐 저는 팬데믹 혹은 지금 자신을 둘러싼 삶의 무게로 인해 힘든 시기를 보내고 있는 모든 사람들에게 위로의 메시지를 표현하기 위해 노력했다고 이야기 했다.

빙하와 화산이 공존하는 풍경을 떠올리게 한다는 잠비나이의 강렬한 스타일을 명쾌하게 잘 드러내고 있는 리드트랙 '저기 저 차가운 밑바닥에서 다시'를 지나, 잠비나이 멤버 전원이 가장 좋아하는 아티스트 중 한명으로 꼽는 선우정아가 객원보컬로 참여한 '지워진 곳에서', 위대한 실패 또는 미완의 성공에 대한 헌사를 담은 '내 날개가 잿더미로 변할 때까지'와 고립과 충돌로 흔들리는 모두에게 희망과 위로와 평안을 선사하는 마지막 트랙 '이토록 거대한 어둠 속 작은 촛불'까지 4개의 트랙으로 구성된 새로운 EP와 함께 밴드는 다시금 새로운 출발선을 정비하고 있다. 발매 전 멕시코 세르반티노 축제 공연을 다녀오며 국제무대 복귀에 대한 본격적인 웜업이 시작되었으며, 2023년 5월과 6월 동안 영국 런던에서 개최되는 'PORTALS'페스티벌의 헤드라이너 출연을 비롯해 덴마크, 스웨덴, 노르웨이, 영국, 네덜란드, 벨기에 11개 도시를 순회하는 투어스케쥴이 확정되었다. 이와 더불어 국내에서의 더욱 활발한 활동들도 함께 준비하고 있다.

Covid-19 대유행이 정점이던 2020년은 잠비나이의 데뷔 10주년을 맞이하는 해였다.
본작의 발매를 준비하며 진행된 영국의 음악평론가 Martin Aston과의 인터뷰에서 2020년 밴드의 10주년을 맞이했던 순간에 대한 질문이 있었다.
잠비나이는 '많은 계획을 준비했지만 불가항력적인 상황으로 이루지 못한것이 많아 너무 아쉽고 슬펐다.'고 말하면서도 이런 말을 덧붙였다.
'그 아쉬움을 앞으로 20주년 이 될때까지 더 좋은 아티스트가 되고자 노력하는 원동력으로 삼겠다.'

모든 일에는 굴곡이 있다. 모든 일에는 상승과 하강이 있다. 모든 일은 전진과 후퇴가 반복된다.
하지만 그 속에서 계속해서 새로운 출발점을 찾고 걸음을 내딛는 것만이 정해지지 않는 목표에 도달하는 방법임을 잠비나이는 이야기하고 싶어한다.
그리고 그 걸음을 걷는 모두를 위로하고 용기를 북돋는 음악을 본작을 통해 전하고 싶어한다.
