i-dle 8th Mini Album [We are]

The eighth mini-album [We are], released after the renewal of the full contract, is an album that contains the story of 'us' who have walked together through the past time, changing the 'I' of the 'I' series that started with the debut album [I am] to 'We'. You can feel the ambition of 'us' for a new start while continuing the unique style that they have shown so far.

The title song 'Good Thing' that opens the album is a song that stands out with Soyeon's signature cool and confident lyrics such as "This is really haha, really funny and fun." The retro-sounding instruments that lead the first half of the track and the witty 8-Bit Sound of the second verse add a sensual mood to the song. The second song 'Girlfriend' is also a song that Soyeon completed with her own unique style of cute consolation to a friend who has gone through a breakup, and the rhythmic drum and guitar sounds combined with each member's unique vocals double the song's appeal.

Woogi's third self-composed track, 'Love Tease', is a disco genre song that the kids have never tried before. It is a song that maximizes the kids' unique and sensuous identity by adding Woogi's unique melodic top line to a minimal retro track. 'Chain' is a song with Minnie's signature dreamy top line that expresses the kids' sensuous changes as they enter a new chapter with various sounds. In particular, the bold and direct lyrics boldly capture the kids' growth and inner changes.

The group album's first self-composed song, "Unstoppable," is a groovy and jazzy pop track in the R&B genre, and the novel-like lyrics with emotional words add to the fun of listening to the song. The ballad "That's Okay," which Shuhua participated in writing for the first time in 8 years since her debut, was the last track to fully capture Shuhua's delicate and warm emotions, despite it being her first time writing lyrics.

This album, which aims to express a new beginning and a high leap forward through bold attempts and unpredictable expressions to show the side of the artist that breaks away from the existing framework, is the first since their debut in which all members participated in writing lyrics and composing, capturing the meaning of 'us' in the album, and you can clearly feel the musical style of each member in each track.

03. Love Tease
'Love Tease' is a song with a vintage charm created by dynamic bass, rhythmic drums, and analog sound instruments, and Woogi's sophisticated mood added to it.

Love? Knowing but pretending not to know. 'Love Tease' is a bit different, just like Woogi.

Miyeon's self-composed song 'Unstoppable', which was included for the first time in a group album, is a medium R&B pop track with a harmonious blend of groovy drums, jazzy chords, and warm brass. It smoothly moves across a wide range of notes, adding a sense of three-dimensionality, and Miyeon's signature warm lyrics increase the immersion of the song.

전원 재계약 이후 발매하는 여덟 번째 미니앨범 [We are]는 데뷔 앨범 [I am]에서 시작된 'I' 시리즈의 'I'를 'We'로 변화를 주며 지난 시간을 함께 걸어온 '우리'의 이야기를 담아낸 앨범이다. 그동안 보여주었던 독보적인 스타일을 이어감과 동시에 다시 시작하는 '우리'의 새로운 출발에 대한 포부를 느낄 수 있다.

앨범의 포문을 여는 타이틀곡 'Good Thing'은 “이거 참 하하 정말 깔깔 웃겨 재미있군” 등 소연 특유의 쿨하고 자신감 넘치는 가사가 돋보이는 곡이다. 트랙 전반을 이끄는 레트로 사운드의 악기들과 2절 벌스의 재치 있는 8-Bit Sound가 곡에 감각적인 무드를 더했다. 두 번째 곡 'Girlfriend' 역시 이별을 겪은 친구에게 건네는 귀여운 위로를 소연만의 색깔을 더해 완성시킨 곡으로, 리드미컬한 드럼, 기타 사운드에 멤버 각자의 개성 있는 보컬이 만나 곡의 매력을 배가시켰다.

단체 앨범에는 처음으로 수록된 미연의 자작곡 'Unstoppable'은 R&B 장르의 그루비하고 재지한 팝 트랙으로, 감성적인 단어들이 어우러져 소설 같은 가사가 곡에 듣는 재미를 더했다. 슈화가 데뷔 8년 만에 처음으로 작사에 참여한 발라드곡 '그래도 돼요'는 첫 작사임에도 불구하고 슈화가 가진 여리고 따뜻한 감정선을 오롯이 담아 마지막 트랙을 완성했다.

'그 남자는 버려 내가 있잖아'라는 속 시원한 가사가 인상적이고, 그냥 너 이제 걔 다시 만나면 죽는다.
